Join me, a local photographer, for an architecture- and history-focused photo walk around Boston’s Back Bay and Beacon Hill, revealing iconic locations and hidden gems beloved by locals. I’ll share tips and techniques for capturing the best photos of our tour—no fancy equipment required! • In Copley Square, you’ll photograph the interiors of three stunning buildings—the Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, and the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel—as I discuss their architecture. • Stroll to some of the city’s most photogenic destinations, including the Massachusetts State House, the cobblestone streets in Beacon Hill, and the lagoon at the Boston Public Garden. Walk Your Way Through Boston's History

We will start our tour at the Lenox hotel in the heart of the Back Bay neighborhood, and will end at historic Faneuil Hall where there are endless places to eat and explore after the tour. Not only will we visit the famous Boston Freedom Trail, but also hidden treasures not covered on other tours. My tour runs approximately 2 1/2 hours. Unlike some other walking tours, I try to cover as much of Boston as possible. The walk is not fast paced, but we do cover about two miles. Wear comfortable shoes. The Back Bay - Explore one of Boston's most famous neighborhoods. Home to some of Boston's most beautiful buildings such as the Boston Public Library and the Trinity Church. Boston Public Garden - Visit the beautiful gardens, and say hello to the Swan Boats, and the Make Way for Ducklings statues! If you come during the right time of year, they may even be donning some accessories! Boston Common - Bask in the freedom of the oldest public park in the United States. Cheers Bar - Where everybody knows your name. Beacon Hill - View Boston's most historic neighborhood. Complete with original brick sidewalks and gas lanterns (you can thank some friendly 20th-century neighborhood rioters for those bricks). The New State House - Is as impressive as the political debates inside...we think.

Shuck Oysters on the Harbor

Our life philosophy is EAT ANYTHING, ANYWHERE. We like eating some of the best foods, in odd places. We will meet on the docks of East Boston where we will tear into and slurp dozens of local oysters, harvested by our oyster farmer friends, while looking over the harbor and skyline. You will learn how to properly shuck an oyster and will go home with a shucking knife of your own. The memories will be in the details. We will set up in "flash-mob" "pop-up" style along the water. Expect the unexpected. Other things to note This is an outdoor experience. To get to the dock, I encourage you to take a water taxi! There are several pick-up points and I am happy to help arrange this for you.

Mt Greylock State Reservation is home to some of the best, wildest hiking in New England. It's not just the towering summit (highest in MA) with its epic views, the park has nearly 100 miles of hiking trails nestled within 12,500 acres of pristine green forests, much of it very lightly trafficked. Most folks barely scratch the surface! Honestly it can be hard to know the best spots and how to get to them. You got waterfalls, stunning vistas, rocky ledges, incredible wildlife... and MILE AFTER MILE of WOODED TRAILS meandering through SHADY FORESTS of rich GREEN. It's all about that forest-bathing time--you'll just FEEL BETTER after a hike (mind and body)! DURATION AND DIFFICULTY: hikes range from easy, flattish 1.5 to 2 hour jaunts to strenuous summit climbs of 4 hours. I can pick or you can choose from a set of ready-made options, or we can chat by text or phone to decide. Learn To Scrimshaw From a Master

I will explain the history of the art of scrimshaw from early whaling to modern. I explain the materials used and the laws governing the materials. Guests will be shown examples of all materials such as whale teeth and woolly mammoth ivory as well as several 19c original sailor made artifacts such as a whalebone fid, clothes pin and sailmakers seam rubber. We then will take a studio tour of my work space where I will show guests how to prepare materials for engraving. We will sand and polish an antique piano key ivory so it is ready to engrave. Afterwards I will demonstrate the art of engraving step by step before instructing guests how to make their own scrimshaw piano key bookmark.

Sail on the Schooner Fame of Salem

Haul up the sails! Take the tiller! Or just chill with an adult beverage while our historic schooner slides through Salem Sound past lighthouses, forts, and waterfront homes. We'll motor out from Pickering Wharf in downtown Salem and call for volunteers to help raise the sails. Depending on the wind, we may shape a course toward Beverly, Marblehead, or head straight out toward the islands! Our interactive crew point out landmarks, explain the operation of the schooner, and mix drinks with equal facility. The captain and crew will explain the significance of the FAME, privateering, and the War of 1812. The firing of the cannon is always a highlight! The sails last roughly an hour and forty minutes. When we return to Pickering Wharf, you're right in the heart of downtown Salem — perfectly placed for a meal, a drink, or a stroll! Note: We will not sail if steady rain, high winds, or thick fog are expected; you will be refunded. If do we cancel a sail, we will reach out to you thru air bnb. Dress for the weather — you are exposed to the elements on our 1812 schooner! This trip is NOT appropriate for infants or toddlers. But once kids are 5 years old, they really enjoy it! The schooner is certified for 49 passengers plus crew. But since 2021 we are sailing at 60% capacity, which means there will be a maximum of 30 guests on your sail.
