Join me for a culinary tour that explores decolonial narratives around food, highlighting the global influences that have shaped African and German cuisines. • Meet at Sahara Imbiss, a beloved Sudanese restaurant, where we’ll start with appetizers and talk about the Arab and British influences on Sudanese cuisine. • Next, we’ll walk to nearby Ethiopian and German restaurants, tasting a few dishes at each place. We’ll discuss the historical ties between Ethiopia and Germany as well as the international origins of favorite German dishes like döner kebab. • We’ll conclude by savoring West African dishes at a fourth restaurant as we reflect on how culinary traditions evolve in a globalized world. Over the course of the afternoon, you’ll sample an array of drinks and vegetarian dishes, and leave with my recommendations for other Berlin restaurants to explore.

Art galleries and architectural tour along Karl-Marx Allee

In this walking tour of East Berlin, we’ll walk along Karl-Marx Allee and learn about the distinct socialist architecture of this boulevard as well as visit several contemporary art galleries, checking out new works from emerging and established artists and speak about the history and present of Berlin as a hotbed of creativity. • We’ll meet up at the ecclectic Café Tasso to talk about how artists have shaped Berlin since the reunification of Germany in the early 1990s and about the city’s diverse art scene. We will also talk a look at the vast collection of second-hand books in the basement of the café. • Then we’ll make our way along Karl-Marx Allee. Along the way we´ll visit several galleries, such as Galerie im Turm, NBB, Capitain Petzel and others, to tour their current exhibits and, occasionally, speak to curators I know. • As we walk down the street, we’ll discuss the artworks we have seen. I’ll also point out some of the most notable buildings around us and intricate details of them, which reflect the Stalinist “wedding cake” style of architecture that makes this street unique. • The tour concludes at the Café Moskau, another iconic building of the post-war era of eastern Berlin. The tour is a great way to explore the Friedrichshain district of Berlin and get an insider’s view of the city’s vibrant contemporary art scene.

A story of a family at the Topography of Terror

Join a storytelling tour at the Topography of Terror museum, where we will explore a unique family history at the former headquarters of the Gestapo and the SS and talk about the dark history of Nazi-era Berlin. • As we walk through the open-air portion of this historical landmark, we’ll discuss the exhibits detailing the rise of the Nazi regime and its use of terror to control society. • Next, we will enter the indoor part of the museum and contiue the story through a walk in the library. Along the way, I’ll talk about my family’s connection to these historical events through my great-grandfather, the mayor of Berlin until 1935. • We will then move on to a cafe to share our personal reflections on what we’ve seen, and talk about how history shapes our understanding of identity and memory today. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Berlin’s complex past, the atrocities committed during World War II, and the far-reaching consequences of this dark era.

My tour of Berlin is very different than the usual Politically correct BS. Actually, think of this as the Politically incorrect tour of Berlin, so feel free to bring along your favorite rude jokes when joining us. It will be full of bad language and bad taste jokes-while paying respect where it is due. No snowflakes allowed! Our exploration will involve memorials, monuments and graves, along with churches and parks. We will discuss a mix of history, current events, local cuisine, the best spots for a cold German beer by the city center of Berlin. Be prepared to be socially active. Other things to note The tour is meant for adults, 18 or older. Each guide will be identified with a small yellow flag and our name!

In meiner Werkstatt hast du die Möglichkeit, in einem Zeitfenster von 2 Stunden dein eigenes kleines Schmuckstück zu kreiieren. Dabei ist mir besonders wichtig, dass du individuell nach deinem Geschmack alles aussuchen darfst. Ich lasse dich auf Schatzsuche gehen und du kannst alle Werkzeuge vorher ausprobieren. Auch wenn du vorher keine konkrete Idee hast, helfe ich dir und zeige dir was alles so möglich ist. Ich empfehle in diesem doch knappen Zeitfenster in Silber zu arbeiten. Wenn Silber für dich keine Option ist und du gern in Gold (ca. 130,-€ pro Gramm) arbeiten möchtest, dann finden wir da auch einen Weg. Leider ist es in einem 2h-Kurs nicht möglich mit Steinen zu arbeiten. Du solltest natürlich keine Scheu vor Hammer, Feile und Säge haben und auch das Spiel mit dem Feuer kann teil des Workshops sein. Ich garantiere dir, dass du danach um eine tolle Erfahrung reicher bist. ;-)

English Comedy Show on a boat

So, here's the plan: You get to become part of one of the biggest and most fun stand comedy shows in English in Berlin! And it's all on a boat! It's a fun, vibrant, energetic and friendly show - EVERY Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. We'll have pre-show drinks and then enjoy a great line up of Open Mic comics doing 5-7 minutes of material and an awesome headliner to top it all off. After that we'll have some relaxed drinks at the bar where we mingle and you get to know the comics and the other people joining the experience in a more private setting. So, ask all those questions you've had but never dared to ask about comedy. Other things to note You can smoke on deck, but not in the bar. The bar only serves snacks, but there's plenty of restaurants and bistros nearby. If you ever find one of the experiences as fully booked, consider joining us the night before or after. I will provide you with silicon trays for modeling, colors, powder, and knowledge of how to create them yourself. The idea is that you can build one shape that you decide and you can bring it home or give it to someone as a gift. Please note that the duration of the workshop may vary depending on the participants' speed, and it could take more than 1 hour in some cases.
